PROSPER, N.D. — Peterson, the region’s largest independent corn and soybean seed company, has announced a new partnership with HC International (HCI), a relationship-driven identity-preserved (IP) and organic grain trading company with decades of experience connecting growers to domestic and international ingredient markets.
The partnership is designed to expand opportunities for growers across the Upper Midwest by improving access to organic, identity-preserved and other specialty crop markets, while strengthening the connection between seed development, production and end-use demand.
“Growers today are looking for ways to diversify revenue and capture premiums where it makes sense,” said Carl Peterson, President of Peterson. “By partnering with HCI, we’re able to bring greater confidence to the entire system, from seed selection to final market, while leveraging each other’s capabilities to create more opportunity for our customers.”
Demand for traceable, high-quality ingredients continues to grow globally, driven by food manufacturers’ desire for greater transparency, consistency and reliability across their supply chains. Through this collaboration, Peterson and HCI are aligning production with those end-use needs, creating a more connected system from genetics to final destination.
“We are excited about the opportunities this partnership brings to both companies,” said Curt Petrich, President of HCI. “Leveraging HCI’s ingredient-market expertise with Peterson’s processing capabilities and extensive network of grower relationships, we will be able to expand our programs and participate in new and additional markets across the food and feed sectors.”
The partnership will also strengthen product development and evaluation efforts. Peterson will work alongside HCI to expand screening and research initiatives focused on varieties suited for organic and IP production systems, helping ensure growers have access to genetics that perform both agronomically and economically.
In addition to market access, the collaboration will support expanded operational alignment, from in-season crop monitoring to post-harvest handling, storage and transportation through Peterson’s facilities in Prosper and at Pingree Transload in Pingree, ND.

Hosted by Peterson, HC International and Pingree Transload, the event will give growers an opportunity to learn about premium crop markets, grain handling and storage solutions, specialty crop programs and emerging agricultural technology.
Presentations begin at 3 p.m., followed by facility tours, demonstrations and refreshments.
“Today’s growers have more marketing opportunities than ever before, but it can be difficult to know which programs are the right fit for their operation,” said Carl Peterson, president of Peterson. “This afternoon is designed to bring everything together in one place, giving farmers a chance to see the facility, meet with experts and learn how that can add value to their farms.”
